The influences: WALTER PARDON

If Peter Bellamy achieved fame for nothing else, it would be for his "discovery" of Walter Pardon that he would be remembered by folklorists the world over. After he had sent a demo tape of 40 songs to Peter via his old history teacher, Roger Dixon, Walter was recorded by Bill Leader and appeared at folk clubs and in folk festivals in Britain and abroad, most notably to the Bicentennial celebrations in Washington DC. Walter recalled hearing Harry Cox sing on the radio in 1944, but the old singers he knew were in his own family, notably his uncle, Billy Gee.
